Your hands touch everything – the food we eat, the handrails on staircases, toys, money, other people’s hands, and the truth is that you can’t see it, but your hands carry around all sorts of bacteria. Washing your hands is vital to make sure you don’t catch any diseases or get any infections because even though it might not be obvious to the naked eye, your hands are dirty. But, of course, in our daily lives, we can’t always count on water and soap to wash our hands, so we need an option to carry with us on the go, and that is where the hand sanitizer benefits come up. And guess what? Today you can make your hand sanitizer at home! Interested to know more about it?

1. How to make Hand Sanitizer at home?

Easy! Making your hand sanitizer at home is a piece of cake. You don’t even need to go to the store and buy some because, with simple household ingredients, you can create your very own homemade hand sanitizer. And all you need are three simple ingredients:
  1. Rubbing alcohol with at least 99% of alcohol volume
  2. Hydrating Aloe-Vera gel
  3. The essential oil of your choosing (lavender oil or lemon oil, for example)

2. Hand Sanitizer Recipe

All you need is 10 drops of your favorite essential oil, 2/4 cup of aloe vera gel, to keep your hands hydrated and, of course, 3/4 cup of 99 percent rubbing alcohol, which is the part that kills the germs. Get a bowl and put all the ingredients inside using a measuring glass to make sure you get the quantities right. Then, use a spoon to mix it all, followed by a whisk that you will use to beat the mixture until it turns into a gel. Get yourself some tiny containers that are easy to carry around and fill them with your DIY gel. There are many other recipes, but the secret is to always maintain a proportion of 2:1 alcohol/aloe-vera. The alcohol portion has to be bigger, and it must make up for 60% of the mix if you want to kill germs with it. And there you have it – simple, but effective.
